Anthem's servers are shutting down in January 2026

EA and BioWare just announced that Anthem will be officially sunset on January 12, 2026. The servers stay up (and the game stays playable) for the next 180+ days, but you can no longer buy premium currency—though you’re free to spend whatever you’ve already got. If you’ve previously purchased the title, you can still download and play it until the shutdown date.

Anthem was built as an online-only experience, so once the servers go dark it won’t work in any capacity. It’ll also be removed from EA Play on August 15, 2025. No BioWare team members were laid off in this process. For the full rundown, check out the FAQ on EA’s site.
