Capcom’s latest earnings call was a mixed bag: overall revenue and profits are up, but Monster Hunter Wilds sales have cratered—dropping over 95% from launch and shifting just 477K units last quarter, putting it behind classics like Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil Village.
Players aren’t loving it, either. Wilds’ Steam rating is “Overwhelmingly Negative,” thanks to persistent performance hiccups, thin endgame content and wonky weapon balance. Even returning monsters can’t fully revive trust—it feels like Capcom may’ve rushed the release to hit year-end targets rather than polish the experience.
