EA Japan boss Sean Noguchi slammed Microsoft’s recent decision to axe 9,000 employees (with nearly half from its gaming arm), calling it a classic case of chasing quick shareholder wins over long-term creativity. Noguchi points out that what the West sugarcoats as “restructuring” is straight-up layoffs in Japan, and he’s bummed that years of hard work on games could vanish before they ever reach players.
He warns that the gaming world leans on dedicated developers and staff, and axing them mid-stream not only wastes passion and talent but also robs gamers of titles they’ve been hyped to play. Oh, and in case you missed it, word is Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport division got shuttered too—now everyone’s hopping over to Forza Horizon.
