Video Games Europe has pushed back against the Stop Killing Games campaign just as it hit the signature threshold to become an EU Citizens’ Initiative, arguing that mandating permanent online services ignores the tough commercial choices studios face.
They say sunsetting servers is never taken lightly, and forcing companies to keep unprofitable games alive—or rely on insecure, liability-riddled private servers—would hike costs, stifle innovation and dramatically curb developer freedom.
