Hideo Kojima’s been pretty blunt: today’s big-budget blockbusters all blur together—same slick visuals, same fight-an-alien-or-a-monster schtick—and he’s largely tuned out, finding indie games far more exciting. He even laughed off the idea of playing Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3 remake and says studios churning out military shooters often don’t know the first thing about real-world weapon handling (something he’s trained for himself).
On the flip side, Kojima’s still dreaming big: he wants to be the first dev to literally make a game in space, complete with ISS docking and a multi-month stay. After all, if there are astronauts over 60, why not a game-designer-astronaut?
