Hideo Kojima’s fed up with triple-A titles all feeling like carbon copies—aliens to shoot or medieval monsters to slay, with visuals and systems that barely stray from the same template. He says he rarely touches big-budget games anymore, finding true creativity in indie studios while the blockbusters play it safe.
He also laughed off the idea of playing Konami’s Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, poked fun at developers who don’t know how guns actually work, and revealed he’s trained in firearms and disassembly himself. On the flip side, he’s got his sights set even higher: Kojima wants to develop a game in space, learn docking procedures at the ISS and be the first “space game developer.”
