Rockstar is said to be planning an age verification system for GTA Online, with GTA 6 rumoured to be following suit for its online mode.

Rockstar is reportedly gearing up to roll out age checks for GTA Online (and likely GTA 6’s multiplayer) in the UK, thanks to a tip from dataminer Tez2. Little snippets in the game files hint that you’ll have to prove you’re 18+ to access the online world—or else features like phone messages, text chat and Snapmatic snaps will stay locked until you verify.
This all ties back to the UK’s new Online Safety Act, which already has porn sites and social apps grilling users for IDs or face scans. Rockstar hasn’t officially weighed in, but if they want to keep GTA Online floating (and avoid hefty fines or a UK ban), they’ll almost certainly make age verification a thing before GTA 6 lands.
