Rockstar’s GTA Online could soon hit you with an age-gate in the UK, according to dataminer Tez2. They’ve spotted files hinting that you’ll need to prove you’re 18+ before diving into online play or using certain features (think in-game chat, Snapmatic, phone messages). It’s all about staying on the right side of the UK’s new Online Safety Act, which slaps hefty fines on platforms that don’t verify user ages.
If it goes ahead, under-aged players will simply be locked out, while grown-ups will need to flash some form of ID. And don’t be surprised if GTA 6’s upcoming online mode carries the same checks—Rockstar won’t want its biggest launch ever banned from a major market.
