Itch.io is re-indexing all free adult NSFW content and hunting for payment processors that’ll actually handle adult material after Stripe bailed on anything “designed for sexual gratification.” Paid NSFW stuff will only come back “slowly,” once they’ve locked in a partner who can confidently support creators long-term.

On top of that, the platform’s rolling out a new content-warning system: any page marked “contains sensitive material” or tagged with “porn,” “fetish,” etc., must tick the “no payments” box and complete the warning checklist to stay indexed. It’s all part of itch.io’s plan to reverse last month’s NSFW de-indexing (prompted by an anti-porn group) and avoid going in and out of search results again.
