Splitgate 2 “Unlaunches” and Goes Back to Beta

After a rocky surprise launch in June—complete with buggy gameplay, missing ranked modes, pricey cosmetics and even a controversial “Make FPS Great Again” hat—1047 Games is hitting pause on Splitgate 2. The team’s rolling out a Season 3 update and ongoing fixes, but otherwise “unlaunching” the shooter to redo it alongside the community. Expect more playtests, added leaderboards, portal walls and revamped modes, with the full relaunch now penciled in for early 2026.

It’s not just the game that’s getting a rethink: 1047 Games is also cutting staff, shutting down servers for the original Splitgate (while eyeing peer-to-peer matches) and refocusing “95%” of its efforts on the reboot. CEO Ian Proulx admits they bit off more than they could chew, owns up to “many, many… mistakes,” and is determined to grind until Splitgate’s back on track.
