Steam Workshop is currently drowning in DMCA notices, with mods for everything from Left 4 Dead 2 to Terraria suddenly flagged and pulled. Players say it’s less about real copyright issues and more about trolls or feuding modders abusing the system, leaving creators stuck in a slow Valve-run process that automatically nukes content until a counterclaim is filed.
Gamers are fed up, pointing out that this broken “notice first, ask questions later” setup is exactly what’s plagued YouTube for years. While Valve legally has to comply with takedown requests, people hope it’ll step in faster or tweak its moderation so Workshop doesn’t become a DMCA free-for-all.
