The FBI has swooped in on a major Nintendo Switch piracy hub, seizing a site that hosted thousands of ripped games under a warrant from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. This move follows its appearance on the EU’s piracy watchlist and highlights Nintendo’s ongoing struggle to curb Switch piracy despite hardware revisions.
While the new Switch 2 has so far escaped the worst of it, Nintendo is still locked in court battles with emulator creators and pirate rings. Last year saw Yuzu’s developer settle for $2.4 million after being accused of “facilitating piracy at a colossal scale,” and the beloved 3DS emulator Citra was also forced offline.
