The FBI has just cracked down on a major Nintendo Switch piracy hub, seizing a site that was hosting thousands of ripped Switch game ROMs under a warrant from the Northern District of Georgia. The site had already landed on the EU’s piracy watchlist, and comes as Nintendo’s flagship console continues to be the industry’s biggest magnet for game leechers—often livestreaming pirated titles right before big releases.
Nintendo’s anti-piracy crusade isn’t stopping there. While the Switch 2 has so far eluded widespread hacking, the company is embroiled in court battles with emulator creators—most notably securing a $2.4 million settlement from Yuzu’s developer and forcing the shutdown of the popular Citra 3DS emulator.
