AMD just hit a milestone on Steam’s Hardware Survey, with over 40% of gamers now running Ryzen CPUs—a first for the red team. Intel still leads at about 59% (down from 62.3% in March), and Nvidia GPUs dominate at nearly 74%, but the trend is clear: AMD’s share is climbing fast.
What’s driving the shift? AMD’s CPUs offer better bang-for-your-buck and long-term socket support (AM4 has been around since 2016), while Intel’s recent 13th/14th-gen “Raptor Lake” chips have suffered heat and voltage headaches. Its new Arrow Lake parts also disappointed in gaming and forced costly motherboard upgrades, making AMD the smarter pick for many PC builders.
