Gamers are sending mass emails and phone calls to major payment processors in protest over Steam and Itchio pulling adult games from their storefronts

Gamers furious that Steam and itch.io pulled or deindexed adult titles are zeroing in on Visa and Mastercard, convinced those payment networks forced the crackdown. Over on Reddit and Bluesky they’re swapping scripts, email templates and phone-call tactics designed to clog customer-service queues and drive home the point—without ever getting rude to front-line agents.

Their playbook? Call and hold, request callbacks to gum up the lower-priority queue, then call again, all while blasting exec inboxes. Visa and Mastercard have so far sent back polite boilerplate about only processing legal transactions and not judging content, but this coordinated “gooning” operation—spurred by activist group Collective Shout’s complaints—aims to hit the big bosses where it hurts.
