Hey DEV Community!✨
I'm Tanya — a cybersecurity enthusiast, Python Developer, and aspiring security researcher. I like to learn, write, read, and build things in my own way. For me, the fun part of tech isn't just learning, but also experimenting and making things a little differently.
🌱How My Journey Started
I first got curious about cybersecurity back in 2020, but it wasn’t until 2023 that I decided to seriously focus on it. At that time, I made a few decisions on my own, not really knowing how wide this field truly is. And wow — it turned out to be much broader than I expected!
I went through countless platforms, videos, and advice from people, but honestly, it often left me more confused than before. Eventually, I realized that I needed to make my own reviews of things and design my own study table (or roadmap, whatever you want to call it). That step helped me stop following every piece of random advice and instead focus on what truly worked for me.
🚀 What I’m Learning Right Now
At the moment, I’m deep into networking. I’m working on CCNA/CCNP concepts, exploring firewalls, and diving into core networking principles. Alongside that, I’m also building something I call my AI buddy 🤖 — a personal AI assistant project.
Working on this AI buddy has already pushed me into learning different areas at the same time: AI, automation, and how it can connect with cybersecurity. I’ve even started writing about this journey on Medium, where I share weekly updates on building my AI assistant.
🔧 Projects So Far
I love building tools while I learn. Some of my recent projects include:
🛰️ TCP Port Scanner → a Python-based tool that scans open ports.
🕵️ OSINT Projects → experimenting with phone number and domain investigation scripts.
They may not be huge, but each project teaches me something valuable and helps me improve step by step.
🎯 Looking Ahead
Cybersecurity is a journey, not a destination. My long-term goal is to keep growing as a security researcher, share what I learn with others, and hopefully build tools that make security research more accessible.
This is just the start — I’ll be writing here on Dev.to about cybersecurity fundamentals, networking, my AI experiments, and projects I build along the way.
Thanks for reading my intro post 🙌 I’d love to connect with others who are also learning or working in cybersecurity, networking, or AI. Let’s learn and grow together!
