TL;DR: Activision just sued Ryan Rothholz and his crew (including Collin “Cid” Gyetvai and Jordan “Bossnight55” Newcombe Boothey) in California for whipping up and selling Call of Duty cheats—namely Lergware and GameHook—since 2021. They allegedly mocked Activision’s cease-and-desist on Discord, kept updating the hacks for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone in ’23, and charged players $50 per game (or $375 for a lifetime pass).
The publisher claims these hacks wreck the PC community’s experience, hurt player retention and revenue, and have forced Activision to chase them through private channels even after shutting down their storefronts in March 2025. Now Activision wants damages, an injunction, and punitive relief—on the heels of a $14.4 million win against another cheat maker last year.
