TL;DR: CD Projekt Red’s next Cyberpunk 2077 is still years off (they’ve got The Witcher 4 and a first-game remake on the go), but creator Mike Pondsmith has spilled that it’ll be built in Unreal Engine 5 and span not just Night City but a brand-new, post-apocalyptic “Chicago gone wrong” metropolis.

Expect a two-map setup this time around—Night City will remain, but you’ll also get to explore fresh turf that’s completely different in vibe and layout. With pre-production kicking off in late 2023 and a switch from REDengine to UE5, we might see more lifelike crowds and cut-area content restored, though there’s still no official release date.
