TL;DR: EA has pulled the plug on its much-hyped Black Panther open-world game and shut down its new Cliffhanger Games studio. In a memo from EA Entertainment boss Laura Miele, the publisher says it’s cutting projects (including Respawn’s untitled Titanfall and a slew of mobile and rally titles) to double-down on its biggest cash cows.
Going forward, EA will focus on core franchises—Battlefield, The Sims, Skate and Apex Legends—while still green-lighting its Iron Man, next Star Wars: Jedi and upcoming Mass Effect entries. That leaves the third (unannounced) Marvel title up in the air and adds Black Panther to the ever-growing graveyard of EA-cancelled games.
