Epic Games just took its legal win lap: after a judge slapped Apple for flouting a 2021 ruling, Epic’s Store will now let devs spin up “webshops” that send players to buy stuff outside the App Store (and dodge Apple/Google’s 30% cut).
They’re even bringing Fortnite back to iOS—encouraging folks to snag in-game goodies at a better price via Epic’s own checkout. Plus, starting in June, Epic won’t take a dime from the first $1 million each game makes (then it’s a modest 12% slice)—further sweetening the deal for studios.
