Koei Tecmo is on a growth spree: after a record-breaking fiscal year, the Ninja Gaiden/Nioh studio just shelled out roughly US$173 million to snag floors 5–9 of Yokohama’s East Tower. Sitting right next to its existing HQ, the new space is kitted out with eco-friendly tech and open-plan layouts designed to double its headcount from 2,500 to 5,000 and supercharge AAA console and PC game development.
This real-estate play underscores Koei Tecmo’s pivot away from mobile titles toward big-budget blockbusters—and it’s part of a wider trend among Japanese giants. Capcom, for instance, is also opening fresh dev hubs in Osaka to keep up with rising demand.
