Nintendo’s latest Nintendo Account Agreement drops a big warning: if you’re caught using games or system software in an “unauthorised” way (think emulators or piracy), your digital products—or even your console—could be rendered totally unusable. The UK and US terms both now spell out that breaking these rules can lead Nintendo to permanently disable services or hardware, a clear escalation in its anti-piracy stance.
They’ve also tweaked the privacy policy ahead of the Switch 2’s Game Chat feature, so with your OK they can temporarily record the last three minutes of video or voice chat if someone files a report about abusive behaviour. It’s all part of Nintendo’s recent crackdown, from beating a French file-sharer in court to shutting down the Yuzu emulator.
